A dedicated server hosting plan means that your website is the only site hosted on the server and all the resources associated are exclusive to your site, you can also host another eDirectory licenses in the same server. With shared hosting, the amount of disk space, resources, and bandwidth you are allotted are limited because there are others sharing the server.

The Power Shared hosting plan and all dedicated plans includes server and product support. If something happens with the server, we will cover and repair. Server support cover requests such as email account creation, Elasticsearch sync, downtimes and other requests regarding software hosting. Product Support includes additional training sessions, version upgrades, fixing software issues and general questions regarding features and functionalities. These items are not covered: how to install/upgrade the software, how to customize the code, how to configure servers, fixing issues caused by 3rd party systems, fixing issues in 3rd party systems installed in the same server. Additional costs to fix issues caused by changes in the code/script or database may apply if it's caused by 3rd parties.

A shared IP address is a single address used by multiple websites within one web server. In this case, the webserver should do some extra work, parsing the user’s request to the correct website. Having a Dedicated IP address means that the website has its very own address, and you can use either this IP address or the domain name of your website to access it from the web. The main benefits of a dedicated IP are: it is beneficial for the email sender’s reputation; it is good for a business identity; it is required for particular third-party applications/scripts.

File Transfer Protocol, better known as FTP, is a communication protocol that allows you to move files to/from a server on the internet. Limited FTP access allows you to download/upload images, documents, etc, in the basic folders of the server and no access to the PHP code and databases. Secure Shell (SSH) is a cryptographic network protocol for operating network services securely over an unsecured network. Typical applications include remote command-line, login, and remote command execution. It gives you full access to your application (files and databases) but no root access to the server.

Elasticsearch is one of the most robust search engines that power the biggest websites available. A dedicated Elasticsearch resource means that your website is the only site using the Search Engine and its processing capacity. With shared Elasticsearch engine, the amount of resources is shared among the other sites in the server.

No, you don't need but you can sign up for one if you want to. cPanel is one of the most popular Linux-based control panels for web hosting accounts where you can create new FTP users, email addresses, monitor resources, create subdomains and installing software. eDirectory Hosting does not include cPanel access and is not required for the software to run but if you need you can sign up for a plan at https://store.cpanel.net/ in addition to the current rates. CPanel installation has a $99 fee and requires the Dedicated Premium plan and above. No root access to our servers is provided.

Our standard shared hosting typically handles 150k+ listings with tens of thousands of monthly visits. The more disk space and bandwidth limit you have, the more content and traffic your site will handle.

eDirectory hosting’s architecture was designed to optimize web traffic and allows sending 1,000 emails per day. The email storage is limited to 1 GB per account. If you have greater needs or are looking for using a 3rd party tool, please contact our support team for further instructions.

If you exceed your monthly bandwidth limit, we’ll charge an extra US$10 for each additional 10GB of traffic in your next billing cycle. If you exceed your storage limit, we’ll set an extra US$10 for each additional 10GB of disk space in your next billing cycle.

Each additional license (add-on site) is technically an independent site, which has its own traffic reports and bandwidth and memory usage. For shared servers, for each add-on site there will be a charge of $10/month for hosting, like for the main site. On other hand, for dedicated servers, you can accommodate as many add-on sites as supported by server capacity, at no additional cost.

Yes, you can! While eDirectory is not responsible for installing and configuring requirements on 3rd party servers, we offer additional services for full server setups, security hardening, and scalability. We don't support Windows system and local/client/desktop installations currently. Read more information here.
